Our Women's Ministries encompasses a lot of territory. From a weekly Bible class to preparing communion to manning the kitchen during potlucks, our women are always busy.
Our weekly Ladies' Bible Class meets on Tuesdays from 9:30-11 in the Fellowship Center. On the first Tuesday of each month, they remain for a salad luncheon and fellowship. Taught most of the time by Mickey Bates, this class is open for all of our ladies of any age. In addition to Bible study, they also pray for needs in the congregation and often send cards, make calls and encourage the body.
In addition, our Women's Ministries hosts bridal and baby showers, prepares food for families when needed, send cards to visitors and shut-ins, and generally fill the roles of the "moms" at church as they do at home.
Then there's the Ladies Retreat held at a hotel somewhere around Southern California. It's a weekend event that often features a guest speaker. Teens may attend with their mothers, and occasionally there's a newborn present. Mostly, though, it's a ladies-only event offering opportunities for both companionship and solitude, get-togethers and reading, good food, and most of all, teaching and fellowship with other women around the Word of God.
The most recent Retreat was held at the La Quinta Inn in the Palm Springs area and was well attended. Many of the pictures showing on this page were taken at that Retreat held in October, 2009.
The Women's Ministries newest event was a combined Birthday Party held in February. Each table was very creatively decorated in a theme representing a holiday in that month. Ladies were seated with others sharing the same birthday month. The enthusiastic response suggests this may become an annual event!
