Christmas is a holiday like no other--tugging at our memories from our earliest years. Who better than our children to remind us every year of the true meaning of that most eventful day?
For several years our children have performed a musical at Christmastime. It is the entertainment for our Annual Family Christmas Dinner on a Saturday night in the middle of December, and it is also performed on the Sunday night following that Dinner. We have performed purchased musicals such as 2008's The Bethlehem Project and 2006's Joyland, as well as our own scripts of various events related to the Birth of Jesus.
Participation is voluntary and generally includes any children younger than eighth grade who wish to be involved and are willing to make the commitment to regular rehearsals.
Our 2008 musical, The Bethlehem Project, portrayed a moving story about two different groups of children who do not get along until they are brought together at "The Manger Throne," one of the many excellent music pieces.
All the kids' grandparents, cousins, friends and neighbors are welcomed to our Sunday night performance, which also includes a dessert reception with cookies and cider.
