Uplift is our big weekly event for 6th-12th graders, and it is totally casual. At Uplift, our goal is to teach and reach any kid who walks through the door, whether the teen has been in church his whole life or it is his first time in church. We desire to be a welcoming, engaging, and safe place for every teen who comes to Uplift.
Our motto is Open, Real and Honest, and the activities and lessons that take place each week are designed to achieve that standard and to bring our teens into relationships with Jesus Christ and each other.
Our new series for Fall 2011 is:
Proclaim: Abandoning the call of the world, embracing the promise of eternity
The world is constantly calling us with the temptation to follow. It's a temptation that leads us down paths which are away from God. It is a very powerful and enticing path. It's one that is seemingly fun, completely acceptable, and totally alluring. It is the wide path.
On the contrary, Christians are called to embrace the promise of eternity. This embrace leads us down a much different path. One that sometimes seems difficult, over-bearing, and full of strife but in reality is full of life. It is the narrow path.
By abandoning the call of the world, we are embracing a life that God has called us to. It can be a difficult life, no doubt. But it is also a life that is full. We are filled by who God calls us to be.
The life of Paul is a tremendous story about the power of God working through a man who abandoned the call of the world and embraced the promise of eternity. His life is an example to all that you can never be so far from God that he cannot reclaim you! God used Paul and transformed the world.
God desires to transform the world through accepting people, those who are willing to give up the allure of the world and embrace their true destiny: to proclaim the love of God to the world through their life.
What does your life Proclaim to the world?
